Utility for Windows 95 that converts cyrillic characters to latin for
use in newsgroups, mailers and other places where cyrillic often don't
work correctly.

It might need some VB4 DLL:s to run, since i have them all i don't know
which it might ask for, nut since VB40032.DLL is a usuall one i have put
that too on my homepage in a file called:
http://www.ecedata.se/jocke/files/vb4dll.zip
It should be copied to the Windows\System folder.

You start with the source-codepage on the commandline, like:
CLIPXLAT.EXE KOI8
The default, if none is specified, is WIN. Here are the supported codepages:
ALT   Alternate russian/DOS CP 866
BDS   BDS/MIC
ISO   ISO 8859-5
KOI7  KOI-7
KOI8  KOI-8
WIN   Windows CP1251
(It can only convert TO latin, not to cyrillic from latin)

When started it becomes an icon at the task-bar. You may start several
programs with diffrent codepages if you use several. The codepage that you
typed on the commandline will be visible in the icons title-bar.

To convert you mark the cyrillic text in your text-editor and select Copy.
(Can usually be done by right-clicking, or using the Edit-menu)
This will place the cyrillic text in the clipboard. Then click on the ClipXlat
icon (or select it with Alt+Tab). It will expand to a windows for a short
moment and then minimize again, when the conversion is ready.
Now return to your application and select Paste (Right-click or Edit-menu)
to paste over the selected cyrillic text with the converted latin.
Of course you can paste the latin text into another program if you prefer that.
(If you use it in a wordprocessor the text-formatting will be lost.)

I have only tested the Win1251 codepage, which is what i can type in my
windows, but i hope they all work ok if you got any use for them.

The program tries to handle upper/lower-case letters ok, but cannot always
know if SHT should be SHT, sht or Sht. In most cases it will work though.
The Bulgarian alphabet will be translated into this in latin:

and the b-lookalike to '

This freeware-program is spread 'AS-IS' and may be used for anything.
